How to Buy Avalanche on Gemini
If you need some guidance on how to buy Avalanche on Gemini, we are here to help!
As always, we recommend checking out our Gemini review before you start trading on the platform. Unfortunately, the Gemini Earn product, operated by a third-party company, went bankrupt last year and you may want to learn more about the issue before you take your business to Gemini.
Without further ado, let’s show you how to buy Avalanche on Gemini in 3 easy steps.
A Step-By-Step Guide on How to Buy Avalanche on Gemini
1. Register an Account and Verify Your Identity
Go to the Gemini website and create an account.
Hit “Create Account” to continue to identity verification.
Select the ID document you want to upload to the platform.
Hit “Get Secure Link” and you will receive a link to upload your document on your mobile phone.
Do not close the webpage until you upload your documents. Once you receive confirmation on your mobile, go back to the webpage to conclude verification.
2. Add a Payment Method
Select “Account” on your dashboard and select Payment Methods from the side panel.
You can link a bank account or a debit card to your account for crypto purchases.
Bank deposits are particularly suited to large transactions as you pay less fees with that option, however, a deposit may take up to 5 days to arrive.
If you add a debit card to your account, you can easily purchase AVAX through Gemini’s Easy Buy feature in an instant. However, debit card purchases cost a higher fee compared to bank transfers.
You can add both payment methods to your account.
For now, select debit card and hit “Add.”
Choose your debit card currency.
Fill in your billing address details.
Complete the address form and click “Next.”
Fill in the card information form to complete the process. The card must be in your name or it will be rejected by the system.
3. Navigate to the Relevant Screen to Buy
Click “Market” to see the crypto assets on Gemini, and search for AVAX. Click “View Details.”
That will take you to the instant buy feature.
As you can see, the instant buy form is very straightforward. In the “Amount” column, enter the amount you want to invest in Avalanche and select your payment currency. Next, pick a payment method.
You can leave the “How Often?” column as it is (Once). If you change it to “Weekly” or “Monthly” Gemini will continue to purchase AVAX for you automatically in the future and withdraw the necessary funds from your payment method.
Click “Review Order.” Gemini displays the applying fees and the amount of AVAX token you will receive. Click “Buy” to finalize your transaction.
Your AVAX tokens will be deposited to your account almost instantly.
The “Easy Buy” feature is very convenient but you always pay a set rate for your tokens, and it’s not always a profitable exchange. There is a hidden fee, otherwise called “a spread,” included in the price. If you want to get a better deal, you can also buy AVAX on Gemini’s “Advanced Trading” interface (the spot market).
Let’s see how.
Active Trading
If you connected a bank account to Gemini or deposited cryptocurrencies to your account, you can use Active Trading without issues. You won’t be able to use your debit card in the spot market.
Click the “Switch to Active Trader” link under the instant buy form. Find the markets panel and type “AVAX” in the search box to see all the Avalanche trading pairs.
Click on the pairing you want to trade. For example, if you transferred ETH to the platform, select ETH/AVAX to exchange Ethereum for Avalanche.
If you deposited another asset that can’t be traded for AVAX directly, sell your assets for one that pairs with AVAX. Generally, USDT is a good bet as it’s a match for almost all digital currencies.
Once you have the pairing, all that’s left is to place an order.
Go to the order form and enter the amount of AVAX you want to buy. Click “Buy” and review your order details. Confirm your order and your assets will arrive in your wallet as soon as your order is executed.
